Revealing the hidden value of spare change
Role: Visual concept, photography, animation, digital ad design, signage design
Value of Change builds on a simple consumer insight: when spare change is viewed over time, its cumulative value is often greater than people expect. I developed an evergreen suite of retail and digital assets that brought this idea to life across kiosk screens, digital banners, and in-store signage. I photographed the coins used in the jar imagery and created animations showing the jar gradually filling. The assets were designed for long-term use and adapted for international markets including the UK.
To show the accumulation of spare change over time, I photographed coins at multiple fill levels and assembled them into a frame-by-frame animation of the jar gradually filling.
Digital banner ads extended the concept into retailer marketing channels, encouraging consumers to bring their coins to the Coinstar® kiosk at their local supermarket.
In-store signage brought the concept into retail environments, prompting consumers to consider how much money they might have in their coin jars.
